BENAN ENERGY Powers into Southeast Asia: A Strategic Breakthrough in the Regional Energy Storage Market

Against the backdrop of the global energy transition, BENAN ENERGY announced in July 2026 that its next‑generation sodium‑ion battery storage systems are officially entering the Southeast Asian market. Together with Malaysian strategic partner STATRON, the company recently conducted a dedicated pre‑delivery technical training for Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB)—Sarawak's largest power utility—in Kuching. This marked the first systematic technical export to a major regional electricity client and won high client recognition, representing a solid breakthrough for BENAN ENERGY's international strategy in Southeast Asia.

As the sole full‑chain power utility in Sarawak, SEB manages generation, transmission, and distribution with over 5,800 employees, owns key hydropower assets including the 2,520 MW Bakun plant, and has already commissioned Malaysia's first utility‑scale BESS (60 MW/82 MWh) with new tenders underway. Sarawak targets 10 GW of installed capacity by 2030. BENAN ENERGY's sodium‑ion system precisely addresses the local demand for safe, long‑lasting storage solutions.

STATRON, a Swiss company with over 50 years of UPS and battery experience, has operated in Malaysia since 2010 and built a local manufacturing base in 2018, serving global giants like Petronas, TNB, Saudi Aramco, and Chevron. Its strong local delivery capabilities, combined with BENAN's technology, ensure seamless deployment and after‑sales support in the region.

The joint training covered material systems, cells, system integration, and BMS maintenance, delivering a comprehensive technical and operational framework to SEB's core team and management.

This successful training event upgrades BENAN's client delivery system, builds technical trust with a top‑tier regional utility, and lays a solid foundation for bidding in future Malaysian and nearby BESS projects. By offering a new lithium‑ and lead‑acid‑alternative pathway, BENAN ENERGY takes a substantial step forward in exporting Chinese sodium‑ion technology, and will continue to drive the global energy transition with safer, more efficient, and long‑term value solutions.
